Angle your vehicle to increase your effective armour thickness and thus your chances of survival. Its surfaces are rather flat though, so well-aimed shots can penetrate it easily. Frontally, it can definitely take some punishment. Let's take a look at the above-mentioned armour first. This is due to its angled and tough armour, paired with a strong gun, making the first steps into the heavy tank gameplay easy ones. It is considered to be the very first 'real' heavy tank in the game and one of the most beginner-friendly vehicles in World of Tanks, perhaps the very most. I am not a fan of the KV2 anyway as I prefer more mobility but I can see why for some it is enjoyable. As one of the oldest vehicles in the game, the KV-1 has always been a reliable choice to go into battle with. One game can be full of joy, another full of deep depression as you fire first in 1 v 1 versus an oppo KV2 and get a low roll while he fires back and one shots you. I had the reticle covering most of its side, but the shell went high and right to the very edge of my aiming circle, missing the SU completely.Ĭompletely agree - the KV2 can be just as frustrating as it can be enjoyable depending on RNGesus. Played one game today at Normandy in the KV-2, missed the big fat side of the SU-122-44 at 50-60m-ish. On the bright side if you smack an HE to someone and it doesn`t penetrate it still hurts, whereas in the KV-1S you do 0 damage if you bounce with that big 122mm gun. While being able to oneshot people in the KV-2 (special attention to Crusader and Cromwell drivers that I have oneshotted through the turret all these years) is fun, you pay it with occasionally errant accuracy and slow reload. Peek a boom style has to be used if using the top gun and the alpha is extremely satisfactory. Very mobile for a HT making it more a heavium which can either go with the other HTs or is able to keep up with the MTs. Definitely worth the grind as its probably the most fun HT in tier 6 to drive (though you derpmasters in the KV2 may disagree). ![]()
